DOGS!
Since this is such a small archetype, and even by standards most of their monsters are pure vanilla, this blog is gonna be smaller then most other blogs I have, but at least that means its something to enjoy in one sitting. so Cobalts...
Cobalts (or Kobolds) are based on the mythological Kobold creature found in mythology. They are gremlin like creatures that can transform into various things like a sprite, a candle, and dwarves. They are thought of to be domestic spirits who take care of the homes or in some cases, are spirits of underground mines or lakes of water. According to Wikipedia (Because it is a source, shut up), they help take care of the home in times of need and are very needy in terms of love and affection, turning on their homes to do tricks and pranks when not attended too, but the modern interpretation of Kobolds seems to come from Dungeons EH OH and Dragons where they are dog like anthropomorphic creatures who builds traps and other weaponry.
Does this mean that Bushiroad will give us Trap Support on the year of the Kobold? No. I should stop making conspiracy theories, Yes, but back on Buddyfight then.

Kobolds started all the way in the Dungeon Trial deck with just vanilla cards, and they stayed like this only showing up in Drums Adventure as more vanilla's until the X Era where they got a boss monster and a brand new playstyle around calling from the soul. They do not have much to go on so we can go through them really quick, starting in order with.
Mameshiba, Cobalt is the first size 0 of Dungeon World, with a 1/2/2 statline. He was used because he was the only size 0 at the time in Dungeon World with 2 crit for a year until Bronze Golem, Jaish was released in H-EB01, making Jaish a very fun trivia card but that's for another issue. 2 Crit on a size 0 was huge and your only other option was a 3/1/3. So you always went this guy because he was a good doggo, but now in the Cobalt deck, he is always playable and can be played on both standard rush and when the boss card comes out without affected size limit to deal damage since he can't hit anything a defense stat to save his life. Run 4 in the Cobalt build.
.........We live in a time where the kids don't know who Thousand Rapier is.....Kids these days.
So anyway, He is the Dungeon Thousand Rapier clone, Adventurers didn't get their clone until H-BT03, but got 2 better versions in Dungeon Zanya and new Dungeon Tasuku. He is a good easy call in the early game for the Cobalt deck, but this is the card you can use the least of since the boss card does not care about size when calling from the soul, so you would rather call the size 2 when regarding who to call from soul. Run a few though to make calling the boss card easier, but not like a big 4-of.
Doberman, Cobalt is the second main damage dealer of the deck when called from the bosses soul. A Size 2 with 5/3/3 that is free to call. A Basic vanilla nowadays, but since all the Cobalts are basically vanilla's, this guy is the best vanilla to call out. Using maybe Dominion Rod as your main item to boost your Cobalt to 6K is still good cause 6000 does hit okay numbers, and the 3 crit is still okay as a threat to bait out shields. Use 4 of these guys for being an okay vanilla.
So the final Cobalt of the original lineup is Tosa Hound, Cobalt. Size 3 with 7000/3/6000 with a two gauge [Call Cost] and you need a "Cobalt" card in your drop zone to put into this card's soul. POTENTIAL FUTURE COBALT SUPPORT MAYBE?! Hopefully. As he was a season 1 boss monster, he only has [Penetrate] and a 1 card [Soulguard]. Simple boss monster, but not an incredible boss monster due to his attribute of just being "Dungeon Enemy". The Dungeon Enemies in BT03 were not a real deck but just a small amount of grunt monsters for the Demon Lords or being used in the Adventurer/Dungeon Enemy Hybrid deck. Even if you wanted to use this guy as a Demon Lord style deck and use your item as the Demon Lord attribute, we have the all mighty Deukruzar to be the main boss Grade 3 for a while until the Hundred Series started. So there was not a place for Tosa Hound and the Cobalt "Deck" died into obscurity....
UNTIL THE NEW BUDDYFIGHT CARD DEVELOPER HAD TO MAKE DUNGEON WORLD MONSTERS FOR THE X ULTIMATE BOOSTER?! HE WAS REPORTED TO HAVE GOTTEN PLASTERED AND ALMOST FELL INTO THE RIVER STYX UNTIL A COBALT SAVED HIS LIFE, PROMISING HIM A CARD IN HIS LIKENESS IN RETURN FOR THE COBALTS KINDNESS!!!
or so I heard...Or he just needed filler cards to make, I don't know.
Hellhound Lord, Bolzoye Cobalt Lord is a Dungeon Enemy/Demon Lord size 3 with an 8/2/5 statline. His [Call Cost] is 3 gauge and putting three Cards with Cobalt in their card names from the drop zone into the cards soul. He has Double Attack and Soulguard as well along with the new mechanic of the deck. The cards you put into the soul can be called from Bolzoyes soul by paying the chosen monsters [Call Cost] and it becomes a Size 0 while the chosen monster is on the field. Your main target is actually Doberman due to its free nature and decent strength as a 5K 3 Crit monster. You could use Tosa Hound, but the issue is the gauge usage. While the 2 gauge isn't as big, it can still be pretty clunky to have 5 gauge at a single time, so Tosa is seen to be a 2 of option, while you would always want to run Doberman or Dachs in your soul. Getting them to drop can be an issue since a decent amount of Demon Lord support does not work for Bolzoye, like Demon Lord's Dungeon, since all that can call is Mameshiba's since they only become Size 0 through Bolzoye's call ability, not from just Bolzoye being there, though there's a lot of ways the Cobalts can go if they decide to make any new Cobalts in the future, which is unlikely as Traps getting new support, but Bolzoye is a proper boss monster for the deck and his ability does compliment the vanilla nature of the Cobalts well and they have cards now to mitigate the soul loss now for Bolzoye with Demon Lord's Armor.
So we got an idea on how the archetype will now work. Turbo the drop zone to get Bolzoye onto the field in order to call cards from soul as beaters to deal damage will Bolzoye wall clears. The issue comes in at the following question.
Why does this deck have no recursion??
There isn't any monsters that can refill the soul once Bolzoye uses it. Demon Lord's Armor helps with keeping soul and wall clearing but once you use a monster, it is gone so in a sense the ability becomes worse the more you use the actual ability. Since while getting a free beatstick is nice, taking away your soul is not worth it, ask Nanase why her new evolution doesn't involve using soul as cost and you can see why. Soul ramp will not fully help since he basically becomes a beatstick with no sustainability so the deck just needs more cheap, affordable Cobalts to call and gain plussing from being called from the soul, like an Oni Assassin Cobalt. OH LOOK ONE I JUST FOUND!
Honestly the Oni Assassin approach would help Cobalt a lot, as while they call souls face-up, using ways to replenish the soul with more monsters to call, and if anything happens to have spells inside, they can be used as resource for costs like Hiding Oni to gain resources and create an engine through Bolzoye`s soul. So if we want to have Bolzoye out as much as possible, we need some basic card I made last year that was not powercreeped but would help in this exact situation. Ace era is great.
I Blame Ace for taking this long
But wow...A lot has changed since I last posted, the anime has gotten better and better, only to have to go into a hiatus regarding the studio.
To be serious for one second, for the next few months, please support your LGS harder then ever, support your Buddyfight Youtubers as much as they can, and show the small team at the Buddyfight English division some love. The hiatus of the anime is probably something that Bushiroad did not expect, looking up information on the studio buyout, it happened the middle of January, so while the team can hopefully finish the first season by then, that is all we can expect from them to do when they are now in the middle of a transition to Sunrise. Hopefully the Gundam animes get better from buying another studio to animate more teenage girls, but for us Buddyfight fans, while people may say that the hiatus of the anime is not a big deal, it really is in the grand scheme of the international game. Ignore Japan for one second because they have access to the manga and have an easier way of getting news and advertising from Bushiroad, we need to address the fact that Bushiroad is kind of...terrible regarding the English side of Buddyfight. They sometimes make videos about cards months late, sometimes they just give out product to Youtubers to make boxes on. From what I've seen and heard, the English team is pretty small so the lack of anime is probably gonna kill them in terms of the new work load they have to do. We have to do our share to keep Buddyfight alive by spreading the game. The anime was the biggest way to get casual and on the fence fans from staying in the card game. When the show is good, the game gets better, and when the show does bad, the game is probably doing something else terrible. My point is, do not give up on Buddyfight now, you have the power to keep the game alive by just staying a fan. We are going to get the anime back, but it will be a few months away. The wait may be painful, but we will not squander or fall. I truly know this community can be a cool place for a simple, but ungodly complex card game. We will make our memes, and we will spam our FTK`s, and we will make our fanart, and we will keep on Buddyfighting till the anime comes home! And we shall welcome that anime back with open arms...and then if they become Buddyfight X again we will throw them out to the curb, my point is, we'll live. We just need to bring in the casuals ourselves, because god knows Bushiroad has done SO MUCH to advertise this game to the English market.
Oh yeah Cobalts. Buddyfight won't get archetypes for a long ass time and so I have to find a way to keep making content because Hero World is the most boring gold mine ever made, thank you guys for waiting 4 months. Still working on the larger blog, and honestly, put what you want as an archetype reviewed down below. If it isn't a long mess, I could try a crack at it.
Thank you and have a pretty nice day!!!

Dachs, Cobalt is the Thousand Rapier clone for Dungeon World....Oh yeah you guys are new here. So basically a Thousand Rapier clone means that the card is a size 1 vanilla with exactly 5000 power, 2 critical, and 1000 defense. Most worlds back in the day had their own clone like this, but since now every card needs to help make 12 damage, their not used anymore.
.........We live in a time where the kids don't know who Thousand Rapier is.....Kids these days.

Howling Cobalt is just a basic copied, Sturdy Dragon Strike, but again, I made this last year before Ace, so if I had the chance, I would put some form of extra buff or plus, or just anything to make it better, but this is just the basic thing you need. Gauge ramp and a deck filter in one card can already do a good bit for the deck just to get Bolzoye online first turn which is the first step anyway.
I Blame Ace for taking this long
It might be a long time till a new archetype hit's the new Ace series of cards. The first year is just setting the foundation like the original season, but I'm guessing the new Yuga deck in April is gonna be some new Deity Dragon Tribe archetype around "Dragon Knights" according to information. So if Noboru doesn't come back, I will riot.

Not a good one though...cause you could be a MAX Dragon player...and we here in SBT03 meta don't fancy yer kind.
